Hey everyone!  Summer is sadly winding down and the school year is returning.  However this is no reason to fret as The Garden Sessions is coming to you live from the beautiful rose garden of The Chestnut September 7 and 8th!  It will be two nights of fun filled music that you won't want to miss so I suggest you send us a message to reserve those tickets before it is too late!  You don't want to be the one person hanging round the water cooler at work who missed out.  So get them quick.  They'll be gone before you know it!

The Garden Sessions 2012, which will take place from Friday the 7th & Saturday 8th of September. 

This amazing affair takes place over two days in the beautiful setting of the rose walled garden of The Chestnut, Birr, Co. Offaly.
Tickets are 25 euro each night , 40 euro for 2 nights, pre book your tickets on the The GardenSessions facebook page .
Limited tickets available capacity 100 persons.

We are so happy & excited to annouce some of our line up for this years The Garden Sessions 2012 Acts such as Hello Moon, Neil Hannon, A Band Called Wanda, The Mandolas, The Gandhis,  The Walls, Daithi, I'm Your Vinyl,  Marc O'Rielly, Winterking,Katie Kim, Ronan O'Snodaigh, Daniel Martin Moore ...   In aid of the Offaly Hospice, we gather a motley crew of talented, gifted and masterful musicians, some who are established and some on their way to a'coup de grace'!Hospice Care is when the focus has shifted from treatment aimed at cure to ensuring quality of life. It seeks to relieve the physical symptoms of illness while equally addressing the persons emotional psyhosoical and spiritual needs. The Garden Sessions 2012, which will take place from Friday the 7th & Saturday 8th of September.  This amazing affair takes place over two days in the beautiful setting of the rose walled garden of The Chestnut, Birr, Co. This intimate music experience has over the years had the pleasure to indulge in the intonations of many a gifted musician to name a few. Mundy, Freddie White, Declan O'Rourke, Fred, Q, Ger Wolfe, Roesy, The Pale. Some of these acts generously gave their time to record on The Garden Sessions CD which made a healthy profit and donation to The Irish Hospice Foundation. Some of last year's line up include We Cut Corners, Cathy Davey, Whipping Boy, Windings, My Veroa, Jennifer Evans, R.S.A.G.

Dublin outfit ‘The Gandhis’ are playing this Sunday at The Chestnut- Sunday Garden Sessions from 5-7 pm, with BBQ!

The Gandhis have a unique style and panache in creating a simple yet immediately infectious melody - something that you can sing along to as if you’ve known it all your life. Throw in a neat brass section; some wonderfully arranged harmonies, and a collection of delightfully sunny guitar riffs, and you have one of the most enjoyable Irish pop acts currently doing the rounds. Comprised of band members: Niall Cullen - Bass and Vocal, Conor Deasy - Lead Guitar and Vocal, Aidan McKelvey - Guitar and Vocal, Bazz O’Reilly - Drums and Vocal.

From National appearances on the likes of RTE’s “Saturday Night With Miriam” and “The Cafe”, the band have been busy touring and working on their 2nd album over the past few months. Having developed a strong reputation for their energetic live shows, The Gandhis have received notable acclaim and have been described as: “A sweet delight….some of the catchiest pop tunes you’re likely to hear all year” Evening Herald, “a great night out is always guaranteed at their gigs” News Of The World.

This Sunday July 15th at the Sunday Garden Sessions from 5-7 pm at The Chestnut Bar catch A Band Called Wanda, a 4-piece indie/folk bank from Galway.  Having built a name for themselves on the Irish music scene through high-profile support slots for the likes of David Gray, Alabama 3, Stornoway, The Sawdoctors, The Hothouse Flowers, and Johnny Flynn, they are now considered one of the most exciting and promising new acts coming on to the Irish music scene and are creating quite a stir with their own brand of exciting, melodic “Folk ‘n’ Roll”!

Come down this Sunday and enjoy a lovely summer BBQ while being serenaded by the sounds of Adela and the Meanits! 5 - 7pm at The Chestnut Bar, Birr!

Their music has been likened to Madness, Sultans of Ping and Lily Allen, but comparisons aside their music contains refreshing elements of pop, folk & trash can jazz that when combined, somehow manage to have a mainstream appeal. With songs that are catchy as f*ck and musicianship that is so roasting hot it is hard to imagine this band staying under the radar for much longer. All four musicians are multi-instrumentalists and incorporate vocals, double bass, piano, ukulele, melodica, drums/percussion, nylon string guitar and violin with effects pedals into each live performance.

The Mandolas playing at The Chestnut this Sunday 5-7 pm!

The Mandolas are a 4-piece folk/pop group based in Cork, Ireland. The band make use of a wide range of acoustic instruments (mandolin, mandola, acoustic guitar, bouzuki, banjo and viola) as well as incorporating lavish 4-part harmonies into their music. The Mandolas perform original material and combine Irish and English folk traditions with a unique blend of contemporary pop.
Catch them at The Chestnut Bar from 5-7 pm this Sunday 17 th June!

Art Deko (Declan Kennedy) kicked off the Sunday Garden Sessions in rockin' form this past Sunday 10th June! It was the first of several intimate gigs that will be feature at the Chestnut this summer leading up to the famous Garden Sessions September 7th thru 8th.

Offaly.  In aid of the Offaly Hospice, we gather a motley crew of talented, gifted and masterful musicians, some who are established and some on their way to a 'coup de grace'!

Over the next few months this blog will be the answer to all your questions about The Garden Sessions 2012.  We'll also be including info about the wonderful work that Hospice provides and visiting some of the past Garden Sessions to really give you a vibe of what to expect this year.  We hope you can all join us once again for nights of equivocally the most beautiful and delectable music of the summer in the garden.
